Today Jan was back at the Moving and Handling Training room in Kelso Hospital to deliver a one day Load Management Theory and Client Handling Techniques refresher workshop. Attending the course we had David Hume and Jamie Lindsay. These two Key Trainers are both based at NHS Borders and have both been a manual handling Key Trainer with Centaur for many years. They were also joined by Dawn Newlands from Brothers of Charity, again Dawn was trained many years ago and continues to attend these one day refresher courses in order to maintain her manual handling accreditation.

The day was spent looking at equipment and the practical techniques needed to work with this equipment along with other problems which may occur during manual handling and how to deal with them safely using risk assessment.

3rd February 2020

Today Centaur trainer Maureen visited Ganton Special School in Hull to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education practical refresher workshop. There were five participants for this one day refresher course, all who had previously attended the full five day Handling People with Special Needs train the trainer course, Jayne Ward and Leanne Cartlich both from Ganton Special School. They were joined by Michael Pearce and Alison Nicholson both from St Anne’s School and Sixth Form College in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Dixon Kennedy from The Education Village in Darlington, County Durham.

Cartrefi Cymru

Jan spent the day on the 28th January 2020 with the team of trainers from Cartrefi Cymru delivering a one day Handling People with Special Needs V2 (adults) refresher evaluation workshop. It was a great day spent with the four Key Trainers, Eirlys Davies, Morwenna Jones, Hilary Jones and Ross Coward covering a number of areas including practical techniques and problem solving.
