Falkirk Council 27th May 2021

Today’s course was for Falkirk Council at the Dundas Resource Centre which is the councils main training facility. As the staff attending the one day course had attended a mixture of our Handling People with Special Needs Education (children) course, Handling People with Special Needs V2 (Adults) course and our Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques course we sent up two trainers so that we could split the group in two depending on the clients that they work with. In group one we had Lesley Beath and Victoria Macaulay who worked with Janet Hunt (Centaur Trainer) for the day covering child based techniques. In group two we had Maureen Currie, Suzanne McPhee, John Spowart and Helen O’Loughlin and they worked with Jan Crawford (Centaur Trainer) cover adult and elderly people based techniques.

Today’s course was a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher workshop which was held at Sandfield Park School in Liverpool. The school currently have a team of three Key Trainers, Lynne Brown, Kevin Gauden and Angela Taylor and they were kind enough to allow us to offer an additional place to Amanda Hesketh from Redbridge School which is also in Liverpool. It was a great day spent looking at the basic theory behind safe moving and handling, risk assessments, training tips and practical techniques. Centaur trainer Jackie obviously made a very good impression on the group as they have already requested that she returns in two years time to deliver their refresher again!

Lime Academy Trust

17th – 21st may 2021

This week we hosted a five day Handling People with Special Needs Education Train the Trainer Masterclass Course for the Lime Trust in Essex. There were four participants for this course, Johanna Ruff, Janice Charlemagne and Sophie Cook-Redding all from Forest Approach and they were joined by Valerie Bennett from Ravensbourne School. All four participants worked hard throughout the week and very well together as a team and I am pleased to say all achieved a well earned pass at the end of the course.

Key (Glasgow)

Jan spent this week (3rd – 7th May 2021) at Key’s head office in Glasgow. We were asked by Key if we could go along to their venue and deliver a five day Handling People with Special Needs V2 (Adults) course to eight of their staff. This will then enable them to go on and deliver the training to other staff within the organisation. It was a very busy week covering all the necessary areas whilst working around and adjusting to the new measures in place for Covid 19 and to allow social distancing.
