Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques Refresher Course

Today, 29th May 2019, Centaur trainer Jan traveled up to Clyde Healthcare in Hillingdon, Glasgow to deliver a one day Load Management Theory and Client Handling Techniques refresher evaluation workshop. We had three Key Trainers attending from three local organisation, Eleanor McCarron from Clyde Healthcare, Stuart Eglinton from Trust Housing Association and Angela Hendry from Extrended Personal Care.

Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar

This weeks course was over in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis for Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar (Stornoway Council). This course was a five day Handling People with Special Needs Education Masterclass, which is designed to train staff who work with children and young adults in safe moving and handling techniques and practice. This then allows them to train the other staff employed by their organisation in the safe moving and handling of children.

Attending this weeks course we had Janet MacLeod, Sineag Blane, Louise Morrison, Calum MacLeod, Christina Stewart, Michael Harrop and Alexandra Mackay. I am pleased to say that this group worked very hard throughout the full week and all ended the course achieving a pass with merit, well done!

Belong Masterclass Course

This weeks course was a Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques three day Train the Trainer Masterclass for Belong, held at their new village in Newcastle Under Lyme, from the 20th – 22nd May 2019.

It was a busy three days with all the participants working very well together, with lots of discussions taking place and problem solving and brilliant feedback not only from the trainer about the participants but also from the participants. All attending work within Belong across their many homes and villages in the North West of England, they were Susan McNulty, Georgina Cliff, Kelly Haddock, Joanna Connor, Stephen Heslop and Amie Adams.

Ysgol Ty Coch – 20th May 2019

This weeks course was a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop for the three keytrainers based in Ysgol Ty Coch in Pontypridd,Rhondda Cynon Taff. These three keytrainers have previously completed and passed the five day masterclass manual handling course with Centaur and were now due for a one day refresher course. Attending the course we had Karen Pitman, Karen Murphy and Sian Jones.

Handling People with Special Needs Education Train the Trainer Course

This weeks course ran from the 13th – 17th May 2019 and was held at Swiss Cottage School in Camden. This course was for staff who work in schools and colleges and are involved in the moving and handling and risk assessment of children and young adults and the training of the staff within their organisation in the safe moving and handling of these children. It was a busy course with six participants attending and all worked very hard during the week.

Attending the course we had Anthony Doherty, Matthew Maguire and Laura Fawcett all from Swiss Cottage School, they were joined by Peter Reed from Gower College in Swansea and Nina Stolikidoe and Lesley Perry both from The Chiltern School in Bedfordshire.

 

Alder Hey Children’s NHS Trust

On the 14th May 2019 Jan spent the day in the theatre department at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to deliver a one day Perioperative Manual Handling and Patient Positioning refresher course to the team of Key Trainers from the hospital. This refresher course is for staff who have previously attended the Centaur three day manual handling course which is designed specifically for staff who work in the complex theatre department. Attending the course and pictured below was Lee McIntyre, Louise Marrs, Rachel Christopher, Fredrick Gonsalves, Michael Potts and Lisa Hughes.

Handling People with Special Needs Education Refresher Workshop

Maureen spent the day on the 8th May at Brentwood School & Community College in Sale, Manchester to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop. This course was aimed at Key Trainers who have previously attended and passed the five day children manual handling course with Centaur. Attending the course was Katy Leckenby from the host school, she was joined by Sheila Symons from Delamere School in Trafford and Catherine Brooks and Tracey Sutton both from Green Fold School in Bolton.
