Green Fold School

On the 15th – 19th October 2018 Janet spent the week at Green Fold School in Bolton. She was there to train five new Key Trainer on the Handling People with Special Needs Education Train the Trainer course. It was a busy week with lots of discussion and I am pleased to say that all five participants ended the week passing the course.

Attending was Kathryn Liddle from Green Fold School, she was joined by Karen Wells from Mayfield School in Chorley, Jonathan Preston from Broadfield Specialist School in Lancashire and Emma Sharpe and Lucy Hickey both from the specialist teaching team and City of York Council.

Yarrow Housing, London

Today’s course, 8th October 2018, was held at Yarrow Housing in London and was a one day Handling People with Special Needs Adults refresher evaluation workshop. There were three participants in total Martyne O’Reilly and Hamid Mahmood both from Yarrow Housing and they were joined by Shaun Fegan from Independence Homes in Surrey. Jan (Centaur trainer) commented that the day went very well with the group working really well together to demonstrate a good level of skills and knowledge.

Cardiff Council Refresher Course

On the 8th October 2018 Janet spent the day at Ty Gwyn Special School in Cardiff. She was there to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop to three Key Trainers, Debbie Palfrey and Catherine Rowlands who are both employed by Cardiff Council and they were joined by Trudy O’Hara from Mencap Wolverhampton. It was a busy one day refresher course spent covering many areas of both theory and practical knowledge. The trainers also covered problem solving and what to do when the normal equipment used is not available, working in various areas.

Lady Zia Wernher School Refresher Workshop

This weeks course was a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop for six Key Trainers and was held at Lady Zia Wernher School in Luton on the 3rd October 2018.

It was a busy day spent refreshing knowledge in the theory elements of manual handling and also practicing safe manual handling techniques. Attending the course was Margaret Matthews, Karleen Burton, Lisa Esser and Val Field all from Lady Zia Wernher School and they were joined by Louise Huddleston from St John’s Catholic Primary School in Baldock and Nikki Horne from St John’s School in Bedfordshire.

 

 

Hornbeam Academy Trust Refresher Workshop

On the 1st October Jackie spent the day at William Morris School in Walthamstow, which is part of the Hornbeam Academy Trust. She was there to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs refresher evaluation workshop to three Key Trainers from the area. Attending the course we had Sharon Walker from the host school, she was joined by Zelda Aclroyd from The Livity School and Tracey Hobden from Newbridge School. All three participants worker really hard throughout the day, refreshing their theory knowledge and demonstrating practical techniques and I am pleased to say that all three passed the course with merit, well done.
