The Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments

Janet spent the day on the 25th May at the Craighalbert Centre in Glasgow and was made to feel very welcome. She was there to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop to the two Key Trainer based within the organisation, Jane Harrison and Lisa Cadman. It was a great day with the two staff having various areas which they wanted to refresher their knowledge and skill in.

St Nicholas School, Wiltshire

The forth course this week was a Handling People with Special Needs Education Train the Trainer Masterclass course and was held at St Nicholas School in Chippenham, Wiltshire from the 14th – 18th May 2018. There were three participants for this course, Paula Lymburn and Kathleen Gaffney both from St Nicholas School and they were joined by Alison Murley from Exeter House Special School in Salisbury.

Coventry City Council Masterclass Course

This week, 14th – 16th May 2018, Jan spent three days at Coventry City Council to train an additional six Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques Key Trainers to add to the team which are already based within the council. The group were diverse from very different areas and environments of the council and dealing with very different client groups, however this just made for a very lively and interactive three days with lots of discussions and problem solving taking place. The group offered support to each other and work really well as a team and all ended the three days achieving a pass for the course.

Handling People with Special Needs Education Refresher Workshop

This week’s course was held at Millwood Primary School School in Radcliffe, Manchester on the 14th May. It was a busy day with five Key Trainers attending who all had different areas which they wanted to cover and refresher their knowledge in but the whole group worked hard throughout the day and all areas were covered. Attending the course we had Julie Sutcliffe and Carol Cook both from Red Marsh School in Lancashire, they were joined by Margaret Miller from the host school, Victoria Elton from Bolton NHS Trust and Susan Pogson from John Jamieson School in Leeds.

Refresher Evaluation Workshop – 14th May 2018

This week was a busy week for Centaur Training & Development with four courses running, the second of these course was a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop which was held at New Siblands School in Thornbury. Attending the course was Kerry Purnell and Natalie Perrett both from the host school, they were joined by Eileen Everson and Lisa Jakes from near by Emersons Green Primary School.

Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques Refresher Workshop

This weeks first course was held at 1st Home Care in Irvine, Scotland on the 9th May 2018 and it was a one day Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques refresher evaluation workshop for Key Trainers who work in the care sector. Attending the course was Elaine Moore from 1st Home Care and she was joined by Dawn Newlands from The Brothers of Charity and Tracy McGregor from Argyll Homecare. It was a great day and the trainer, Jan, commented on how well the group worked together on various problem solving tasks. They also discussed Bariatric clients and refresher knowledge on practical techniques.

Newbridge School

This weeks course took place at Newbridge School in Ilford, Essex from the 30th April – 4th May 2018. It was a busy week with a full course of eight participants but they all worked hard covering all the practical and theory knowledge and delivering excellent presentations. Attending the course was Steve Stewart, Tiffany Calvert, Marta Zierik and Oliver Kirschner all from Newbridge School, they were joined by Alison Crispin-Bennet from Newbridge Outreach Services, Michaela O’Connor from Mandeville School, Sarah Fletcher from Ravensbourne School and finally Deanne Bailey from The Vale School.

 

Handling People with Special Needs Education Refresher Workshop

On the 4th May 2018 Janet traveled to The Orchard School in Oldbury, West Midlands to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop. Attending the course was Rachel Boon from the host school and she was joined by Keryn Green from Oldham Council and Nicola Brant from Wood Green Academy. It was a full day covering areas requested by all three participants and I am pleased to say that all three finished the refresher course with a merit awarded, Well Done.
