Perioperative Manual Handling Refresher Course

On the 26th March 2018, Jan spent the day at The Nuffield Hospital in Derby to deliver a one day Perioperative Manual Handling and Patient Positioning refresher evaluation workshop to five manual handling Key Trainers from various Nuffield Hospital across the country.

Warren School 1 Day Refresher Workshop

Janet Hunt spent the day at Warren School to refresher the two Key Trainers based at the school, Deborah Bailey and Christine Cook. Although there was only the two participants it was a very full and busy day spent covering many areas including training of staff and what to include, selecting and sizing slings and risk assessments. Janet was very impressed with these two trainers and how far they have developed which showed as both ended the day achieving a pass with merit.

Uplands School, Swindon

Jackie recently spent the day with one Key Trainer, Susy Roberts from Uplands School in Swindon. Susy needed to get her manual handling accreditation back up and running so Jackie used the day to update and test Susy in all areas, including legislation and practical techniques and we are pleased to say that at the end of the day Susy was awarded a pass with merit, well done.  


John Chilton School, London

This week Janet visited John Chilton School in Ealing, London to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop. The school were kind enough to be host and allow others to attend the course. It was a busy day with a full course, the day was spent covering many areas including what to include in a one day session and half day session within school, specific techniques and handouts. Attending the course we had Karen Charles from the host school, she was joined by Shanta-Dee King from Riverside School in Haringey, Shirley Parker from Lindon Bennett School in Slough, Beatriz Miranda Bermejo from The Brook on Broadwaters School in Haringey, Tania Hemstock from Addington School in Woking and Ali Al-Rawi from London Borough of Hounslow Council.



Perioperative Manual Handling Refresher Course

This weeks course was held at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital on the 14th March. It was a one day refresher evaluation course for the staff within the theatre department which we trained two years ago on the Perioperative Manual Handling & Patient Positioning Masterclass. A very full day was spent covering a number of areas including equipment, assessment and problem solving with a number of theatre specific techniques practiced. Jan praised the team at the hospital stating that ” the full group continue to demonstrate their excellence in their expertise and all work well together

Hoople Ltd


From the 5th – 7th March 2018 Centaur delivered a three day Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques train the trainer masterclass course for Hoople Ltd in Herefordshire. The trainer for the three day on behalf of Centaur was Jan and attending the course we had Nicola Stevens and Jim Carroll both from Hoople Ltd and they were joined by Roisin Cosgrove and Chavonne Wilson from Northern Health & Social Care Trust in County Antrim, who battled the “beast from the east” and made the journey across from Northern Ireland.

North Lanarkshire Council – 8th March 2018

This week Janet was back with North Lanarkshire Council to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher course to two Key Trainers based at the council. The morning of the course was spent covering theory knowledge, training tips and advice and planning courses whilst the afternoon was spent covering the practical element of the course including problem solving. Attending the course we had Brian Gilmour from Firbank Secondary School and Helen Delaney from Mavis Bank School.

Handling People with Special Needs Refresher Course

This week Jackie traveled to Hull to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher workshop. Attending the course we had Jayne Ward and Leanne Cartlich both from the host school, Ganton School. They were joined by Michael Pearce, Peter Yorke, Alison Nicholson and Sarah Costello all from St Annes School in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Steven O’Brien from Boradfield School in Lancashire. It was a busy day refreshing theory knowledge and practical techniques.
