Newlands School

Janet Hunt spent the day at Newlands School in Middleton on the 20th October to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher course to five Key Trainers from the local area. Attending the course we had Rachel Bell and Lyndsey Eastwood both from Springside School, Catherine Lloyd from Redwood School and Alyson Quinn and Allison Thorpe both from Newlands School.

One Day Refresher Course

On the 19th October 2016 Maureen made the long journey to Grangemouth in Falkirk to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education Refresher Evaluation Workshop to four Key Trainers. Attending the course was Lorraine Scott from The Scottish Centre for Children with Motor Impairments, Norma Findlay from Edinburgh Council, and Audrey Mill and Tracey Sharples from Falkirk Council. 

Handling People with Special Needs Train the Trainer Course

Janet Hunt was in Pontyclun, Mid Glamorgan this week, 10th – 14th October 2016, to train four new Handling People with Special Needs Education Key Trainers. It was a very busy week with all four participants achieving a pass at the end of the course. Attending the course we had Danielle Johnson from Rhondda Cynon Taff, Kathryn Trego from Crownbridge Special School, Di Vickress from Barrs Court School and Sian Jones from Ysgol Ty Coch.

Chesnut Lodge School

Maureen traveled across to Chesnut Lodge School in Widnes on the 13th October 2016 to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher course to five current key trainers. Attending the course was Elizabeth Hughes and Simone Clare both from Chesnut Lodge School, they were joined by Donna Hewitt from Foxwood School and Zoey Lucas and Emma Cummerson both from Millstead School.

Maureen has recently joined the Centaur team as a trainer and she received very positive feedback from the participants after the course, “Maureen was great, really helpful” and “Good opportunity for discussions, very upbeat

Theatres Masterclass Course

This week, 5th – 7th October 2016, Janet Brewer traveled to Liverpool to the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to train eight members of staff from theatres on the Perioperative Manual Handling and Patient Positioning course. It was a busy three days covering many practical techniques specific to theatres and recovery rooms.

Handling People with Special Needs Refresher Workshop

On the 7th October 2016 Janet Hunt spent the day at Brimble Hill School in Swindon to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher course to six Key Trainers. The day was spent covering areas which the participants had requested along with refreshing their knowledge on the practical techniques. The participants for the day were Jane Roberts from Brimble Hill School, Susy Roberts from Uplands School, Gail Barlow from Crowdys Hill School, Tania Hemstock from Addington School and Paul Swanson and Philip Cusack both from Virgin Care.

Handling People with Special Needs Education Refresher Evaluation Workshop

On the 3rd October 2016, Janet Hunt made the journey across to Crocketts Community Primary School in Smethwick to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop to five Key Trainers. Attending the course we had Susan Evans and Catherine Morgan from Coleg Gwent, Donna Jenkins from Greenfield School in Merthyr Tydfil and Claire Greenhouse and Claire Foxall both from Crocketts Community Primary School. 

Janet said that “all achieved a high standard throughout the day which reflected in their final mark” as they all passed with merit.

Birchwood School, Melton Mowbray

Janet Brewer was in Melton Mowbray on the 3rd October at Birchwood School. She was there to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop to five current key trainers. Attending the course we had Wendy Jeffs and Julie Rawlings both from Dorothy Goodman School, Claire Wood and Sue Mayhew both from Birchwood School and they were joined by Jan Dewar from Sherbourne Fields School.
