Nuffield Health Derby Hospital

This week, Jan Crawford spent three days from the 21st – 23rd March at the Nuffield Health Hospital in Derby to train four new Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques Key Trainers. The participants who attended were from four of the Nuffield Health Hospitals across the country.

Handling People with Special Needs Refresher Workshop – 22nd March 2016

Janet Hunt spent the day at Millwood Primary Special School in Radcliffe on the 22nd March 2016 to deliver a one day refresher evaluation workshop. Attending the course was Margaret Miller from Millwood School, Sue Elleray from Elms Bank School, Damon Arrand from Cambridge Park School, Chloe Jones and Sue Papworth both from Springwood School and finally Sarah Ballard from Norfolk County Council. All the participants had different areas which they wanted to cover during the day which made for a very busy course but all ended the day achieving a pass with merit.

Newfield School Refresher Course

Janet Brewer made the journey to Blackburn on the 21st March 2016 to visit Newfield School and deliver a Handling People with Special Needs Education one day refresher evaluation workshop to three Key Trainers. It was a very busy day with many areas covered including slide sheets, handling belt techniques and problem solving. All three participants scored highly on the course and passed with merit at the end of the day.

Darlington Borough Council

Janet Hunt traveled up to Darlington on the 16th March 2016 to spend the day at The Rydal Academy. We were asked to deliver two half day bespoke sessional moving and handling training courses to a number of the staff based across all the education sites within the councils area. 

Theatres Masterclass Course

This week, 14th – 16th March 2016, Janet Brewer traveled to the Nuffield Health Hospital in Derby to deliver a Perioperative Manual Handling and Patient Positioning masterclass course to five new Key Trainers from various hospitals within Nuffield Health. It was a very busy three days with all five of the participants achieving a pass at the end of the course, well done!

Ganton Special School Hull

On the 14th March 2016 Janet Hunt traveled to Ganton Special School in Hull and delivered a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher evaluation workshop to six existing Key Trainers based in various schools around the area. Attending the course was Sarah Riley  and Julie Fryer both from West SILC in Leeds, Julie Venus, Jayne Ward and Leanne Cartlich all from Ganton Special School and Tracy Walker from Tweendykes School which is also in Hull. It was a very full on day as all the participants had areas that they wanted to look at and refresher but also an enjoyable day with the trainer commenting that “they are a great group to refresh as they are all eager to learn and also share their knowledge”

North Lanarkshire Council

On the 7th March 2016 Janet Hunt made the journey across to Muirhead in North Lanarkshire to deliver a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher course. There were two Key Trainer attending this course, Joan Andrea Ramsay and Hazel Ruxton and both achieved a pass with merit at the end of the course. Well Done!

Janet then stayed with North Lanarkshire Council from the 8th – 11th March 2016 and went on to deliver a four day Handling People with Special Needs Education Masterclass train the trainer course to six new Key Trainers. Attending this course was Helen Stewart, Jacqueline Cowe, Joanne Gillespie, Elizabeth Gilchrist, Margaret Taggart and Jennifer Daigle.

Refresher Evaluation Workshop

Jan traveled to The Weir Nursing Home in Hereford on the 8th March 2016 to deliver a one day Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques refresher course to four Key Trainers. Great course with lots of techniques practiced and knowledge exchanged. Attending the course was Rita Mills from The Weir Nursing Home, Maxine Kelly from Mobile Care, Jessica Bumfrey from Quality Care at Home and Georgina Dewar from Numast.

Chapel Road School, Norfolk Refresher Course

Today’s course was held at Chapel Road School in Norfolk and was again a one day Handling People with Special Needs Education refresher course. The trainer was Janet Brewer and attending the course we had Karen Edwards and Helen Croxall from Chapel Road School, Nicola Stewart from Sheringham Woodfields School and Rachel Ridgeway from Hall School. Really good day spent refreshing theory knowledge and techniques with all the participants achieving a pass with merit at the end of the course.

Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar

Janet Hunt traveled across to Stornoway this week, 29th February till 4th March, to deliver a Handling People with Special Needs Education course to the council and train five new Key Trainers. It was a great week with all five participants working really hard together as a team and all achieved a pass at the end of the week. The five participants for the course were Murdo Mackay, Janet Miskovic, Christina Stewart, Diane Smithyman and Annabel Black.
