Key Trainer Refresher – Cornwall County Council

Today Janet Hunt visited Curnow Special School, Redruth this week on the 25th February 2014, to deliver one of our Handling People with Special Needs Education Key Trainer Refresher Courses. We had attendees from all over the area including; Jenny Buckland and Sarah Jose from Curnow School, Jonathan Astin from Nancealverne School, Gareth Morcombe from Somerset Council, ad finally Kelly Foster from Devon County Council.

One of the course participants, Jenny, said “Excellent training style. I felt able to ask for advice and feel valued. The information was put over in a clear way”

Janet also enjoyed the day “I was very happy with the day and how the group responded. They worked really well with each other and no part of the day was wasted.”

Recently, the Graphics Department at Centaur Training and Development have been working hard, this is because we are aiming to reach a greater audience via advertising. We’ve recently appeared in the last 2 editions of “Special Children” magazine, one of the largest and most subscribed too magazines in the special educational needs sector.

Key Trainer Refresher – St Ann’s School

Janet Hunt recently visited St Ann’s School in Hanwell, London this week on the 14th February 2014, to deliver a  Handling People with Special Needs Refresher Course to 5 of our existing Key Trainers. Those that attended were Viva BrakeCatherine O’Regan and Gina Thompson from St Ann’s School, they were joined by Karen Hughes from Barrs Court School and Sue Starling from The Bridge School.

We had excellent feedback from both our trainer and the course participants, Janet described it as a “great day by all with a very positive outcome” and Catherine said to us “You can’t improve upon perfection!”.

Key Trainer Refresher – Trust Housing

This week one of our trainers Jan Crawford headed to Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, on the 12th February 2014, to host a Load Management Theory and Client Handling Techniques Refresher Workshop. This was to give a chance to two of our existing Key Trainers to refresh their knowledge and extend their accreditation – the attendees were Amanda Meldrum and Michael Doherty, both of whom are from Trust Housing.

The feedback Jan gave was great, saying “Both Mike and Amanda passed the refresher, they are much more confident now in going forward and undertaking more practical training”.

“They are both working to a high standard and I consider them to be excellent KeyTrainers”

A Course With a Difference

Today Janet Hunt visited the Castle school, delivering a training and information session to a group of parents; the course consisted of general training with hoists and advice on risk assessments.

The parents who are pictured below, found the day most informative and all went away with new knowledge; We are all very happy that you enjoyed the course and gained something from it.

Key Trainer Refresher – Kilpatrick School

This week Janet Hunt went Kilpatrick School  in West Dunbartonshire on the 7th February 2014, to deliver a Handling People with Special Needs Workshop to 5 of our existing KeyTrainers. Those that attended were Moria Gorman, Elizabeth McAdam and Beth McLafferty  from West Dunbartonshire Council, joining them were Elaine Allan and Ann Kendal from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The trainer was thrilled with how the day went saying”I am very happy with today and all the areas covered, we were able to give ways forward on many issues. Lovely Group.”

An attendee, Beth McLafferty, said “I now feel more confident after today, it was very helpful and informative”.
